“Let’s make the 61st district the best place to live!”
My Name is Jac Bennington.
I have called this region of Virginia my home for more than 30 years.
From the time my family moved to Warrenton when I was 12 years old to today as a husband, father of two boys, teacher in Fauquier County and Soldier in the Virginia Guard, I have seen parts of Virginia change. This evolution has taken place in the hallways of our schools, along our roads and in our neighborhoods.
I have changed. At one point in my life, I used to consider myself as a moderate Republican. However, over the past several years I began to realize what the party stood for were ideals I couldn’t support. I began to rethink what is important and it led me to change my political affiliation. While some people may be skeptical of transformation, I think it is an opportunity.
This November, you have the opportunity to figure out how we will improve our Virginia public education system so our children can graduate from our high schools and go on to pursue their dreams and make Virginia and America grow.
This November, you have the opportunity to decide how we are going satisfy the demands on Virginia’s energy consumption.
This November, you have the opportunity to determine that a woman in Virginia has autonomy over her body.
This November, you have the opportunity to determine how we can make housing more affordable in Virginia without disrupting the principles of supply and demand.
This November, you have the opportunity to vote and make a change in who represents you in Richmond.
Voting is our most sacred right—one that countless Americans, including my grandfather, fought to protect. Despite being exempt from the draft, he challenged it, joining the Navy to help free the world from tyranny in World War II. His sacrifice, which so many other people like him made, was not to allow leaders in the federal government to implement poorly thought out policies that have negative impacts on Americans or to align with dictators who spurn democracy and freedom.
As the Democratic nominee, I will work tirelessly to earn your vote because it was paid for by the bravery of America’s sons and daughters. The challenges in the 61st District and Virginia require patience, collaboration, and compromise—values at the heart of our democracy. By working together, we can build a stronger future for ourselves and the next generation.
“I am convinced through compromise we can overcome any challenge and create a better future for ourselves and our children because this is Virginia, and we are Americans.”
